Sleep, we all need it. In fact, did you know that we spend a third of our lives sleeping? That is approximately 230,000 hours. No wonder we are willing to spend so much money on mattresses, sheets, pillows and more to help us get some quality shut eye.
Considering the amount of time we spend in our beds, are they really as clean as they should be? We clean our kitchens, bathrooms and carpets regularly, but how often should we be cleaning our beds?
According to Good Housekeeping, you should clean your mattress pad (also known as a mattress protector) at least every couple of months, while your sheets and pillow cases should be washed weekly, and for good reason.
Allergens such as dust mites, mold, animal dander and pollen are all things that collect in your bedroom and more importantly on your mattress…gross!
And, while you’re cleaning your mattress protector, Good Housekeeping says it’s a great idea to vacuum your bare mattress to help kill any bacteria left behind.
If you prefer not to spend your time vacuuming your mattress, then invest in a mattress with a removable, washable top cover. If you have a Yogabed, simply unzip the top part of the mattress, pop it in the wash and you are good to go!
Now you have more time to sleep, watch Netflix, walk your dog or just do absolutely nothing.
